Deciding to ask the woman you love is a big step and many times men will think up the most romantic way possible to present her an engagement ring and ask the question. Of course nothing will spoil this romantic atmosphere quicker than diamond engagement rings that do not fit.

But if you purchase the ring at the jewellery store without your future fiancé, just how do you make sure you are buying a ring that will fit? The fit does not have to be perfect but it will need to go onto her finger and cannot be too loose either or your proposal will just not be perfect.

If a gentleman is lucky she will have a ring in her jewellery box that does fit and this can be used as a guide for buying that engagement ring. The inside of this ring can be traced onto paper for a guide the jeweller can use.

Another idea is to use a piece of string to get her finger size while she is taking a nap. While others have used costume jewellery to get the closest estimate on what size to get that diamond engagement ring.

Choosing Between White and Yellow Gold For Your Engagement Ring

Most men head off to the jewellery store to pick out their diamond engagement rings on their own so they can drop to one knee and propose to the love of their life. Many are shocked with the questions they are asked and array of rings they are shown upon requesting to see diamond rings at the jewellery store.

Most thought it would be simply a matter of picking the best looking diamond they could afford and walking out with that ring ready to pop the question. So they are not prepared to decide between something like white or yellow gold on the band that holds the diamond.

Really there is no wrong answer to the question as white or yellow gold it is a matter of personal preference. Hopefully they know their future fiancée well enough to know if she has a preference and use that as a guide.

If they do not know many jewellers feel that white gold enhances the appearance of the diamond and suggest that the band be white gold for this reason. But yellow gold has its fans as well.

The best possible solution is to look at lots of rings and trust your heart that you will pick out just the right one to ask for her hand in marriage with. Many women will be so thrilled at the engagement they will never question the decision that was made on white or yellow gold.
